Moving with packing: we pack and unpack for you
Most of the work in a move is not loading but packing. If you don't have the time or capacity, you can leave this to us as well: we do all the packing and unpacking, and the boxes against a deposit, packing materials appear as a separate item in the quote, and all you have to do is hand over the keys.
It is available at three levels: packing materials only, partial packing for fragile and valuable items, or full packing for every room. We agree the level at the free on-site survey and confirm it in writing in the quote.
What level of packing can you request?
| Level | What we do | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Packing materials only | What we doWe deliver the boxes, tape, film and paper, and show you what is best packed in what. You do the packing. | Who it's forFor those who have time and only need the materials. |
| Partial packing | What we doWe pack the fragile and valuable items: glass, porcelain, pictures, lamps, electronics. Clothes and books are up to you. | Who it's forThe most popular choice: we help where the risk of damage is greatest. |
| Full packing | What we doWe pack and unpack every room, labelled room by room, and dismantle and reassemble the furniture. | Who it's forFor those who have no time, are moving with small children or alongside work, or are organising the move from abroad. |
What do we pack, and how?
- Kitchen: crockery, glassware and porcelain piece by piece in tissue paper and bubble wrap, standing upright, not lying flat. Plates stand up to transport better when placed on edge.
- Books and documents: in small 40 × 40 × 40 cm boxes, alphabetically and labelled if required, so they go back on the shelf in the same order.
- Clothes: clothes on hangers go into wardrobe boxes with a hanging rail, so they don't need folding and won't crease.
- Electronics: TVs, monitors and computers in bubble wrap and boxes, with the cables labelled or photographed.
- Paintings, mirrors, lamps: with corner protectors and corrugated paper, transported upright. Chandeliers and curtain rails travel dismantled.
- Furniture: upholstered and high-gloss pieces in furniture blankets and stretch film, dismountable furniture flat-packed, with the screws in a bag attached to the piece.
We bring the packing materials: boxes, tape, bubble wrap and shrink wrap, corrugated cardboard, tissue paper, and the tools too. You don't need to buy anything; the materials are listed as a separate item in the quote, and the boxes are provided against a deposit.
How much does packing cost?
Packing is work charged at the moving hourly rate, not a separate item: HUF 18,000 base fee + HUF 18,000/hour with 2 people, HUF 24,000 + HUF 24,000/hour with 3 people. Packing materials (boxes, tape, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, corrugated paper, tissue paper) appear as a separate item in the quote; boxes are handed over against a deposit.
All prices shown are net amounts and do not include VAT at the applicable rate.
This also means that packing takes time, and that shows in the working hours. Fully packing an average two-room apartment typically takes a separate half or full day, which we do the day before the move, so that moving day is just loading. We give you the exact time and amount after the survey. Full price list: moving prices.
Do we also do unpacking?
Yes. At the new address we unpack room by room, assemble the furniture and put it in place, install the chandelier and curtain rails, and connect the washing machine and dishwasher. These are part of our additional services , so let us know at the survey which ones you need.
We take away the unpacked, empty boxes and the packing material, so you don't have to get rid of them. If furniture or junk becomes surplus during the move, we take it away in the same trip, see junk removal prices.
What should you do yourself, even if we do the packing?
A few things stay with you even if you leave all the packing to us. Documents, cash, jewellery and medicines should go in a separate bag that you keep with you on moving day. We cannot transport hazardous materials, i.e. gas cylinders, paint, thinner and lighters.
It helps if you walk through the apartment in advance and show us what is not coming along: anything that doesn't need to be moved saves both working hours and boxes. It is best to empty and defrost the fridge and freezer 24–48 hours before the move. Detailed tips: packing tips and moving checklist.
