How much does apartment clearance cost?

For clearing an entire apartment fixed price after a free on-site survey, in writing. We have no per-cubic-metre or hourly price list for apartment clearance; the fixed price applies to your apartment. The price depends on the size of the apartment, the amount of belongings, the floor and the lift, and includes carrying down, transport and proper disposal of the junk. What do we take away, and what happens to it?

Furniture, household appliances, carpets, textiles, books, dishes, ornaments and mixed household junk. We are happy to take still usable furniture and clothing to a charity (for example the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service or the Red Cross) if you have arranged the handover with them in advance. The rest we take to an official waste processing centre.

We cannot transport hazardous waste, that is paint, chemicals, gas cylinders and batteries, and we do not transport construction debris or rubble either.

When are we most often asked to clear an apartment?

• Before selling an apartment: an empty, swept apartment photographs better and is easier to sell.
• After a tenant moves out: the owner wants the furniture and junk left behind gone in a single day.
• Before a renovation: the contractor needs an empty apartment.
• Before moving abroad or into a care home: we either store them or deliver the belongings you want to keep, and clear out the rest.

How does apartment clearance work?

How long does an apartment clearance take, and when can you come?

We agree the date after the free survey; in Budapest we can typically come out within 2–4 days. We tell you how long the clearance will take at the survey, based on the volume, the floor and the lift, and record it in the written quote. If it is urgent, for example because of a handover or a tenant moving out, mention it at the survey and we will look for the earliest free day.

How to prepare for an apartment clearance?

• Sort out in advance what you are keeping, put it in a separate room or corner, and mark it so the movers don't take it.
• Take documents, keys, personal mementos and valuables with you before the clearance.
• Let us know if there is paint, chemicals, gas cylinders or batteries in the flat: we cannot transport these, but we will tell you where to drop them off.
• Arrange the lift and parking with the building. In restricted downtown zones we can also arrange the entry permit.
• On the day of the clearance, have a contact person available who hands over the key and accepts the swept flat at the end.

Do you also need moving or storage after the clearance?

If the furniture you are keeping needs to go elsewhere, the same crew can move it in one trip: details and hourly rates are on the home moving in Budapest and moving prices page.

If it cannot go to the new place yet, furniture storage is also available: in a dry, secure warehouse, priced per cubic metre, billed daily or monthly, with no minimum term. At the survey we decide together what goes into storage, what goes to the new address and what is taken away.
