Free moving boxes with every move

Packed moving boxes in an empty Budapest flat before the move

For every move ordered, Herkules-Trans Bt. provides the moving boxes free of charge, against a deposit. You do not need to buy or rent boxes. Packing materials appear as a separate item in the quote.

Why do we give the boxes for free?

Good-quality boxes of a uniform size mean faster loading and safer transport for us too: the multi-layer hard cardboard boxes can be stacked tightly and secured in the cargo area. And for you, it is one cost item less in the move.

How do our free boxes work?

We charge no rental or usage fee for the boxes, only a deposit: just like a returnable bottle, you get the deposit back when you return the boxes. The deposit depends on the box type; we state the exact amount in our quote.

  • Collection at our site: you can collect them in person at a pre-arranged time; you only pay the deposit.
  • Delivery and return: if you ask, we take the boxes to the address you give us and bring them back for the same fee. We quote this fee in our offer once we know the address.
  • Return: normally within 30 days. You bring the boxes back to our site, or ask us to collect them.

Packing materials (adhesive tape, wrap, corrugated paper, tissue paper) are not included in the moving hourly rate: listed as a separate item in the quote.

Packing supplies for a move: cardboard boxes, adhesive tape, bubble wrap, tissue paper, marker pen, scissors and string on the floor

What size moving boxes do we provide?

We use four sizes, all made of multi-layer heavy-duty cardboard, which stack tightly and can be secured in the cargo area.

How many boxes does a flat need?

We estimate this at the free on-site survey or by video call, based on the rooms and the amount of books, clothes and kitchenware, and agree the required quantity in advance. An average apartment needs several dozen boxes, so buying them costs tens of thousands of forints. If it turns out you need more, just let us know and we will bring extra.

Where can you get free moving boxes if you are not moving with us?

In supermarkets and greengrocers, banana and apple boxes are sturdy and free to take; just ask in the stockroom. Friends who have recently moved are often glad to have their empty boxes taken away, and many people give them away for free on classified ad sites. Make sure the boxes are dry and odourless, and use only undamaged, multi-layer cardboard for heavy items.

How to pack the boxes?

Put heavy items in smaller boxes, tape the bottom of the boxes thoroughly, wrap fragile items individually in paper and mark them, and write on every box which room it goes to. Detailed advice: packing tips and what packing supplies you need.
