International moving prices: what they depend on, what is included
Author: Herkules-Trans Bt. · Last updated: 21 October 2026
For international moves we quote a fixed price that depends on the distance, the route and the quantity to be moved. After the free survey we send the quote in writing, and the price does not change at the end of the job; transport within the EU usually takes 1–2 days, and we ask for the deposit by bank transfer. We do not give a general “from” price, because no two moves are the same. Below we summarise what makes up the price, what is included and what to expect per country.
In brief
- Fixed price: distance, route, quantity; we do not give a “from” price.
- Included: door-to-door transport, loading, securing, full liability insurance, boxes against a deposit.
- Not included: packing materials, parking and access permits, storage charged per m³, individually priced items.
- 1–2 days within the EU, no customs; deposit by bank transfer; no deposit for domestic moves.
What does the price of an international move depend on?
- Distance and route: the kilometres and the road tolls make up the larger part of the price.
- Quantity: a complete household or a part load, how many cubic metres.
- Packing: transport only, or packing and unpacking as well.
- Loading conditions: floor, lift, parking options at both addresses.
- Interim storage: if your new home is not ready yet.
What is included in the fixed price?
- Door-to-door transport, with loading and unloading.
- Securing the furniture in the cargo hold and packing fragile items separately.
- Full liability insurance.
- Boxes against a deposit.
What is not included in the fixed price?
Packing materials (tape, film, bubble wrap: separate items in the quote), parking and access permits, interim storage charged per cubic metre, and individually priced items: piano, upright piano, safe, artwork.
By country: customs, time, price
| Destination country | Customs clearance | Transit time | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Austria | Customs clearance: none, EU member | Transit time: often one day (Vienna, Graz, Linz) | Price: fixed price, individual quote |
| Germany | Customs clearance: none, EU member | Transit time: usually 1–2 days | Price: fixed price, individual quote |
| Other EU countries | Customs clearance: none | Transit time: usually 1–2 days | Price: fixed price, individual quote |
| Destination outside the EU | Customs clearance: we handle customs clearance for moves out of Hungary | Transit time: individual | Price: fixed price, individual quote |
The same pricing logic applies to moving home, and it is advisable to book 1.5–2 weeks in advance.

Frequently asked questions about international moving prices
How much does an international move cost?
We quote a fixed price that depends on the distance, the route and the quantity to be moved. After the free survey we send the quote in writing, and the price does not change at the end of the job.
Why don’t you give a “from” price?
Because no two moves are the same: between an address in Munich and one in Hamburg, or a studio flat and a family house, the difference is several-fold. The individual written quote protects you from the price being different at the end.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, for international moves we ask for the deposit specified in the quote, paid by bank transfer. For domestic moves there is no deposit.
What is not included in the fixed price?
Packing materials (tape, film, bubble wrap) are a separate item in the quote; parking and access permit fees; interim storage charged per cubic metre; and individually priced items such as pianos and safes.
Is it cheaper if I only move a few pieces of furniture?
We also take part loads if the destination is on our route; for these too we give an individual written quote based on the quantity.
Can the price change at the end of the job?
No. The fixed price is set in the quote and does not change at the end of the job.
